  • Forest Therapy, also known as “Shinrin-yoku”or “ Forest Bathing" is the practice of immersing yourself in nature to enhance physical and mental well-being. It involves slow, mindful walks in forests, allowing the body to absorb phytoncides, the natural compounds released by trees that boost immunity and reduce stress.Having exposure to soil microbacteria like Mycobacterium vaccae can improve mood and cognitive function. Forest Therapy also lowers cortisol levels, blood pressure and heart rate, while promoting relaxation and emotional balance. It is a scientifically supported method for reconnecting with nature, fostering mindfulness, and improving overall health through sensory engagement and ecological connection.

  • Exposure to forest environments has been scientifically proven to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression by lowering cortisol and balancing emotional regulation. This practice is particularly beneficial to people with hypertension and cardiovascular conditions as it helps lower blood pressure and heart rate. Exposure to Forest phytoncides (which are natural compounds released by trees) boosts your immune system by increasing the activity of natural killer (NK) cells, which help fight viruses , colds and even cancer. Forest air supports respiratory health, enhances your mood and your cognitive function.

Forest Therapy is increasingly recognised as a complementary intervention for PTSD, ADHD and chronic stress-related disorders. It offers a non-invasive accessible way to support recovery and resilience. Regular engagement with Nature improves sleep and insomnia and would also be a valuable tool for the holistic management of perimenopause and Menopause symptoms.

    • The 20-Minute Rule: Stress hormones (cortisol) drop significantly after 20 minutes in nature.

    • The 2-Hour Effect: The boost in "Natural Killer" (immune) cells from a deep forest immersion can last for up to 30 days.

    • The 6-Week Habit: It takes roughly 6 weeks to build a new neural pathway—moving from "nature as a visit" to "nature as a habit."

    • Guided Invitations: Your guide will offer a series of "invitations"—gentle suggestions to engage with the forest. These might include noticing the movement of the wind, feeling the textures of the earth, or other sensory questions. There is no "right" way to respond; the forest is your partner, and the invitation is simply a door.

    • Attention Restoration: We utilize Attention Restoration Theory (ART) to help combat mental fatigue. By moving away from the "directed attention" required by screens and schedules and leaning into the "soft fascination" of nature, your brain has a chance to rest and recover.

  • We usually go ahead in light rain—the forest is beautiful then! In the event of high winds or extreme weather, we will reschedule and transfer your ticket to the next session.

  • a Yoga Mat , Sit Mat or similar if preferred and also suitable clothing such as waterproof jacket, closed toe waterproof shoes or Wellies. Also any medications you might need such as asthma inhalers, diabetes medications or Epipens for specific allergies.

  • Unfortunately not as other people in a group may be allergic or afraid of dogs and also your session requires you to be "off duty" so your dog may be a distraction to yourself or others. Dog Friendly sessions however could be on the menu next year!

  • Forest therapy is open to all fitness levels. We cover very little physical distance, focusing instead on the depth of the experience.

By the end of the session, the goal isn't just to have seen the forest, but to have felt it. Most participants leave feeling refreshed, mentally clear, and deeply relaxed.
